HIRING: Designer (video, graphics and marketing)

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and abilities:

Creative Competencies:

  • Strong mastery of video editing, illustration and animation software (currently Adobe Creative Cloud, mainly After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Illustration/Flash animation skills, including character design, movement, expressions, timing, staging, etc.
  • Can construct motion graphic and kinetic typography videos
  • Can edit existing After Effects templates
  • Keeps up with the general design/video trends, and is driven to constant improvement (learning new software, skills, trends, styles, etc.)
  • Can edit live video clips into a coherent finished product, and has a strong sense of timing and narrative structure
  • Natural passion for film/video/animation

The Position:

Our estimated start date is early 2017. The position is full time (Monday through Friday, 9-5), and includes a competitive salary based on skills, education and experience. Industry experience a plus, but not necessary. JOB – KV Gear Production/Graphic Artist, Big Kahuna Sport Company

Big Kahuna Sport Company, a leader in team and institutional sporting goods, is currently looking for an experienced graphic artist to create and work with Vector Art in Adobe Illustrator. In this role, the successful candidate will utilize stock layout templates to create custom files for the production of team uniform designs through dye sublimation. The dye sublimation process relies exclusively on Vector-based graphics; familiarity with layers, masks, creation tools, editing tools, transparencies, gradients and typography is necessary. The goal of our KV Gear Production Artist is to creatively bring our clients visions to life.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret work order instructions and translate these into organized Vector Art files.
  • Use Vector Art templates (.ai files) to prepare team uniform proofs (.jpg files) for client approval.
  • Incorporate existing graphics/logos into layouts and create custom design elements.
  • Revise and adapt working files and proofs.
  • Use Photoshop for simple colour correction of proof files (when required).

JOB – Junior Graphic Designer, Blitz Gear

REPORTS TO: Creative Director

Junior Graphic Designers are often young students fresh out of post-secondary or who are finishing up their program and are employed through an internship. Junior designers usually require mentorship through a majority of their duties.

Responsibilities

A Junior Graphic Designer will lay out pages of copy and artwork, draw logos, redraw logos, rework text, perform color corrections and overall take on the basic duties that help them get to know the process and procedures of graphic design. They will also be responsible for photo editing and manipulation when required. A junior designer will often work on multiple aspects of one project but will take on only one or two tasks at a time.

Requirements

In general, Junior Graphic Designers have a degree, diploma, or certificate in graphic design and have zero to two years of experience.

Advancement

Designers in this position will often be considered “junior” for up to two years or longer to build a portfolio.

Qualities

A Blitzgear designer shouldn’t just be creative; they should be passionate about design and marketing.  and be learning to be passionate about marketing. Time Period

Temporary, full-time (maternity leave) graphic design position at a boutique communications and branding agency starting May 1st, 2016. This position is for 1 year but has the potential to lead to permanent full-time work.

Duties/Responsibilities

An entry level position, the graphic designer can expect to work mostly on production jobs including sell sheets, wine labels, neck tags, advertisements, mock ups, brochures and more. Projects will be completed working closely with the client. Time management skills are key to meet deadlines and balancing jobs with quick turnaround. While many projects require the use of pre-existing brand guidelines, some opportunities have more creative freedom.

Qualifications

Recent graduate from a recognized graphic design school – proficient in Adobe CC, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Salary/Compensation

The situation is contractual, with a negotiable hourly rate based on experience, with a rate review and an available benefit package after 6 months. You invoice as a self employed subcontractor.
